First Knowledge - The Crossing
The first episode of the Memórias e Saberes podcast narrates the roots of Ilê Omolu Oxum. Starting with the story of Marcolina de Oxum, who came from Nigeria and arrived in Bahia as an enslaved person, passing through Procópio d'Ogum to Iá Davina. In addition to telling their story, we are going to talk about the process of black immigration, both from Africa to the Americas and from one territory to another within Brazil. Historically, black people had to learn to worship their deities and build spaces in unknown places, as happened with Marcolina when she went to Bahia and Iá Divina when she went to Rio de Janeiro. The episode also tells the story of Candomblé in Little Africa.
