“Education in the dictatorship” is the second episode of the series Incontáveis, a series that tells stories that are not usually told about the military dictatorship in Brazil. Produced by the UFRJ Memory and Truth Commission, the series seeks to disseminate recent academic research and reports prepared by the truth commissions. The episode deals with the trajectory of students, professors and members of the technical-scientific body of universities and schools affected by the dictatorship. Leaving the commonplace on the subject, the film demonstrates that the victims of the dictatorship are not limited to the official number of dead and disappeared in the period. There are a large number of students, for example, who lived through the violence of repression in the period, mass arrests and forced disappearances. The episode also tells stories of teachers and public servants who had their careers interrupted, left the country or even lost their lives in the dictatorship. The narration is by historian Dulce Pandolfi, a former political prisoner, who gave her account to the National Truth Commission and the State Commission of Rio de Janeiro.
