This video is part of the Incontáveis ??series, produced by the UFRJ Memory and Truth Commission. The series tells stories that have not yet been told about the military dictatorship in Brazil. This episode addresses the issue of the regime's violence against the black population and favela residents. Historically privileged targets of state violence in a profoundly racist country, this part of the population was also greatly affected by the arbitrary acts of the dictatorship. Tens of thousands of families removed from their homes to make room for real estate speculation and the enrichment of the ruling classes, favored by the regime; young black men executed by death squads and death squads; slum dwellers arbitrarily arrested and tortured on the grounds of "vagrancy"; censorship and persecution of black cultural manifestations: these were some of the main forms of violence that the regime carried out against these sectors of society, while reinforcing the myth of racial democracy and affirming that there was no racism in Brazil. The narration of the episode is by Asfilófio Filho, Dom Filó, organizer of soul music parties that celebrated black beauty and questioned racism. Filó was arrested and taken to DOI-Codi after organizing a dance in Guadalupe, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
